Red Zone: Holiday announced in parts of 5 more districts

The government on Monday announced general holidays in some areas that were marked as ‘red zone’ by the health authorities in 5 more districts, due to high coronavirus infection risk. The districts are Faridpur, Manikganj, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi and Kushtia.

Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday night.

The notification stated that general holidays will be effective for 21 days in red zones from the announced day. The order also mentions which 21 days will be a general holiday in these red zones.

The holidays will be effective only in the ‘red zones’. This general holiday will be applicable to government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory and private offices, institutions and agencies residing in these areas.

It has been informed that this holiday will also be effective for those who are living in these areas but working in other areas. However, the emergency services will be out of the holiday.

Earlier on Sunday night, the government declared a general holiday in 27 ‘red zones’ in 10 districts of the country. The districts are Chattogram, Bogura, Moulvibazar, Chuadanga, Jashore, Madaripur, Narayanganj, Habiganj, Munshiganj and Cumilla.
