Priyodesh News, Dhaka: A mild heat wave is currently sweeping over various regions of Bangladesh, affecting parts of the north, south, northeast, and central areas, including the capital, Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has identified several affected districts, including those within Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions, as well as Dhaka, Khulna, Kushtia, Faridpur, Tangail, Kishoregonj, Manikgong, Bogura, Sitakunda, Narayongong, and Nilphamari. However, there is hope that the heat wave may abate in some of these areas.
According to the latest weather forecast, this heat wave is expected to persist for the next 24 hours, starting from 9 am today. Daytime temperatures are anticipated to remain relatively stable in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions.
In addition to the heat, residents of Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions should be prepared for light to moderate rainfall or thunder showers, often accompanied by temporary gusty winds. Similarly, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may experience rain, while the southern part of the country could witness moderately heavy to very heavy falls.
The highest recorded temperature in the country on Thursday reached 36.8 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature today was recorded at 23.5 degrees Celsius in Sitakunda. Over the past twenty-four hours until 6 am today, the maximum recorded rainfall was 19 millimeters (mm).
Meteorologists have identified a low-pressure area forming over the Northeast Bay and its adjoining regions. The monsoon trough extends across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and the center of the low-pressure system extends to Assam, passing through the southern part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon activity in Bangladesh is currently fairly active, with moderate to strong activity observed in other regions of the North Bay.
For those in Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 5:48 pm today and rise at 5:50 am tomorrow.
