Legal action will be taken against Al Jazeera

Bangladesh is considering taking legal action against Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera for publishing a misleading report, said Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Momen.

The minister came up with the comments while talking to reporters on Wednesday.

He said Al Jazeera had made a report, where, it is said, the two gentlemen standing behind the Prime Minister, the two brothers who are controversial, are the bodyguards of the Prime Minister. Which is a blatant lie.

“Prime minister Sheikh Hasina had never appointed anybody as her bodyguard. Her party (AL) men are always her bodyguards,” said Momen referring to 21 August grenade attacks on her when party men protected her, not bodyguards. This is totally false news. A well-known media outlets like Al Jazeera how can report this kind of news, they (Al Jazeera) should apologize.

“You know Al Jazeera can’t see good things of Bangladesh,” Momen said. Al Jazeera’s job is to find fault with Muslim countries. The British controlled it and many funding them. One of our sons-in-law has become involved with them. Which is very sad, those who are always against good things.

When asked if there is any plan to shut down Al Jazeera’s broadcasts in Bangladesh, he said Al Jazeera would broadcast a few more reports. There are no plans to stop broadcast now. Because shutting down the broadcast rights will not much beneficial for us, the world is now open. We hope that Al Jazeera will be more responsible for publishing reports. Many are speculating that many have paid for the report with Al Jazeera.

Citing Al Jazeera has lost its acceptability and credibility Foreign Minister said, Al Jazeera is not seen in the United States.
