Wife killed for not getting money

A 25-year-old man has been accused of killing his wife after she failed to get money to buy a motorcycle in Jhalokati’s Rajapur.

The incident took place in Putiakhali area of the Upazila on Wednesday afternoon. The accused, Al Amin, has been absconding since the incident.

Bithi Akter, 23, daughter of Md Chattar Molla of Angaria area of the upazila, confessed to the murder.

Bithi Akter’s brother Kawsar Molla said, “Al Amin got married to my sister five years ago. Their conjugal life was going well since their marriage. But for a year, Al-Amin started torturing my sister by asking for money to buy a motorcycle. We gave twenty thousand taka a few days ago, but they kept torturing for the rest of the money. On Wednesday afternoon, my sister was physically assaulted. There are injury marks on my sister’s body. Al Amin left my sister at the Upazila health complex in the afternoon with the medicine to kill the rice insect inside the mouth after beating her.

Rajapur Police Station OC Pulok Chandra Roy said the body was sent to Jhalokati morgue for autopsy.
